Chris Rawlins, Australia: "I was retrenched because of my deafness. Due to surgery I have total loss of the hearing in my right ear and 60%.industrial deafness in my left ear. After surgery to remove a growth from my brain cavity and right ear, I found I was withdrawing from community activities and even family get togethers. It was hard to communicate with others even in total silence. My specialist surgeon recommended a hearing aid for my left ear to help my communication. ONDC Hearing Aids of Adelaide. South Australia did the required tests and prescribed a Claro 211 dAZ manufactured by Phonak.
The beauty of nature was a shock when the new hearing aid was fitted. I could hear the wind and the birds in the trees, I could communicate freely with others. Yes it did take a little time and discomfort to get trained to the device, but it was worth it. My life was changed by Phonak .I then found I needed a second hearing aid as a back up and fordirty work (The region is semi desert and dust can be a problem), ONDC then obtained a Phonak Piconet 2 with volume control. This allowed me to resume working with power tools and doing everyday work.
During a check up visit to ONDC, I was told of a new product in the Phonak range, the Perseo. After another hearing test I undertook a trial period of the Perseo 211dAZ. As the aid was switched on a new clarity of sound was revealed. I purchased the Perseo on the spot. It is amazing the difference in my life since the purchase of the Perseo. I now attend functions, socialise at the local clubs, enjoy the company of others and even go on holidays again. My next challenge is a day at the One Day Cricket and an Australian Rules Football match.
The clarity of the Perseo allows me to listen to people with accents and television is now enjoyable for me. The adjustment settings allow me to turn sound down when there is too muchnoise Eg clubs. Road noise in the car is now easily dealt with by the Perseo, I now enjoy road trips again. The annoying fan or airconditioner that constantly drones on annoying me is now a thing of the past, the hearing aid recognises the sound and automatically compensates for it.
I would recommend the Phonak range to anyone who has a hearing impairment."
